Broncos coach Vic Fangio said Friday morning that receiver Courtland Sutton won’t practice today after sustaining a shoulder injury early in Thursday’s workout.
“But we think he will be limited (Saturday),” Fangio told a pool reporter. “He will be day-to-day.”
If Sutton is inactive or limited against Tennessee on Monday night, rookie Jerry Jeudy and veterans Tim Patrick and DaeSean Hamilton will have larger roles. Rookie KJ Hamler continues to be limited with a hamstring injury.
Sutton’s injury came two days after outside linebacker Von Miller injured his ankle.
“It’s part of everybody’s season eventually,” Fangio said when asked if the Broncos feel star-crossed. “Ours just happened. We endured two this week. We’ll be fine.”
Fangio said Miller underwent surgery Friday morning.
“I was told it went well and we’ll see how it goes,” Fangio said. “They haven’t said anything on a timetable based on his surgery. That will depend on the healing.”
Family, friends invited. The Broncos said around 500 friends and relatives of the team’s players and coaches will be allowed to attend Monday’s game.
Mile High and Broncos officials will use the soft launch as a run-through for the game-day staff and the required protocols. On Tuesday, the Broncos and Gov. Jared Polis announced that 5,700 fans will be invited to attend the Week 3 game against Tampa Bay.
Players launch campaign. The Broncos’ players announced the launch of the “We Stand For” campaign in an effort to raise awareness on social justice issues.
Defensive end Jurrell Casey and his wife, Ryann, are leading the program and it will showcase social justice causes, organizations and charities that are important to players, coaches and staff. Several players filmed a series of “We Stand For” videos discussing personal and impactful stories about their experiences. The videos will be available on the Broncos’ website and social media channels.
This story will be updated.
