The Broncos announced they will not practice today or hold in-person activities after one player and two staff members had confirmed positive COVID-19 test results.
The Broncos are scheduled to host New Orleans Sunday at 2:05 p.m. Their facility will be closed today.
In a statement, the Broncos said they will “continue preparations for Sunday’s game remotely with virtual meetings. … Working closely with medical experts and the league office, we will take all steps necessary to ensure the well-being of the players, coaches and staff.”
On Thursday, the Broncos placed quarterback Jeff Driskel on the COVID-19/reserve list, but the team was allowed to practice after they and the league office determined there were no close contacts to Driskel.
The unidentified player will be the fifth to test positive since training camp opened. Fullback/tight end Andrew Beck missed practice time in August, right guard Graham Glasgow missed two games and defensive end Shelby Harris is expected to miss a fourth consecutive game. Additionally, defensive coordinator Ed Donatell is expected to miss his fifth consecutive game with coronavirus.
