The Nuggets have signed free agent guard Austin Rivers to a 10-day contract on Tuesday.
Rivers is already in Denver and has gone through the health and safety protocols, a league source told The Denver Post. He’s expected to be available for tomorrow’s game vs. Portland.
Rivers, who played 21 games for the Knicks this season before being traded and then waived by Oklahoma City, will add immediate backcourt depth in the wake of Jamal Murray’s ACL tear last week.

Nuggets Journal: Jamal Murray’s passion is most irreplaceable part of his injuryThe Nuggets had been considering Rivers even before Murray’s injury happened, The Post reported last week, to add size and shooting out of the backcourt.
Rivers, who’s averaging 7.3 points on 43% shooting with 2.0 assists this season, will also add insurance for guard Monte Morris, who’ll be out for a “little while,” according to Nuggets coach Michael Malone. Morris injured his hamstring in Friday’s win over Houston. He only returned to the lineup two weeks ago after recovering from a left quad strain.
With 45 postseason games (23 with the Clippers from 2014-‘17 and 22 with the Rockets from 2018-’20), Rivers will have the most NBA playoff experience of any guard on the roster.
Rivers is eligible for Denver’s playoff roster because he wasn’t on an NBA roster beyond April 9.
