Exactly seven months since the Rapids last hosted fans at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, they’ll allow a limited number to return for an Oct. 7 match against LAFC.
Colorado will let in as many as 1,165 fans (6 percent capacity) for the match, the team announced Thursday, in accordance with safety protocols developed in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
It is one of four matches fans will be allow to attend to close out the season, including Saturday, Oct. 10, at 5 p.m. vs. L.A. Galaxy; Sunday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. vs. Real Salt Lake; and Sunday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. vs. Seattle Sounders FC.
“The health and safety of our supporters has been our main priority since we first began working with local health authorities and government officials to explore the possibility of hosting fans again,” Colorado Rapids executive Pádraig Smith said. “We’re excited to be able to welcome them back to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and count on their support as our team enters a crucial run of games in search of a playoff spot.”
Staring Friday, Rapids season-ticket holders will get first crack at purchasing tickets for each game. Remaining tickets will then be made available to the general public starting Oct. 2. Fans can sign up for a single-game priority list to receive initial access to tickets made available to the general public.
All tickets will be sold in “blocks” of two, four or six seats. The seats will be sold together side-by-side with the expectation fans will attend games with family members or with trusted friends, and face coverings will be required for all in attendance.
Here are some of the stadium safety measures and protocols:
- Enhanced venue sanitation protocols in accordance with CDC guidelines, including increased disinfectant wipe down cleaning of high-touch surfaces throughout the inside and outside of the venue
- Hand sanitizer dispensers will be available at each entrance, at the top of each seating section aisleway and throughout the concourse
- No congregating or tailgating will be permitted
- 100% digital ticketing via mobile device
- 100% cashless stadium environment
- Specific gate entry based on seating location
- Recommended gate entrance timing to decrease crowding
- Closure of all stadium restaurant and lounge spaces where guests may inadvertently congregate
- Extensive communication of updated health protocols and best practices via stadium and parking lot signage, in-game PA reads, jumbotron & LED visuals and social media blasts
- Assigned parking lot locations
